"Where oh where did October go?" a good friend asked me earlier today. Good question. It seems like it raced by and made my head spin. I've been keeping incredibly busy with writing, indie publishing projects, subbing a few things to other mystery and weird story markets. Since I turned 70 back in February (gulp) I feel an even greater urgency to get things done and OUT there.
This has been a good month for me publication wise. Ironically, a story I subbed a year ago suddenly turned up in Mystery Tribune online, although I'd never heard from them that it was accepted.
A poem I wrote was published in the Texas Bards Poetry Anthology for 2026.
A short Christmas story will be produced on the Kings River Life podcast around Christmas. That's a first for me!
AND....a story that's sort of been waiting in the wings at Black Cat Weekly was published today, on Halloween. "The Incident at Muley Showalter's Place" is a weird western, strange one with monsters and cowboys! That was fun, and I intend to write many more like it.
For now, I'm turning my thoughts to Thanksgiving stories--some new, some previously published that I'm re-packaging with new covers and extra materials added--maybe a few recipes. Until then,
Happy trails!
